Art Glass Gallery
The gallery is split into different sections. This section deals with
abstract paperweights. Please click on your
particular object of interest.
Whilst working with Paul Ysart during the 60’s
at the end of the day when the old master Paul went home Peter Holmes would
use the materials at hand, which was anything that was compatible with glass
and would practice and experiment a new style of paperweight. This has now
been recognised as the birth of the Abstract paperweight.
The first of these being
produced in 1966. The company Peter worked with marketed these pieces and
now Scottish Borders Art Glass has a world-renowned reputation in the art of
making abstract designed paperweights.
Abstract paperweights which
have never ending themes using the inner imagination is a very individual
thing and hence Kenneth Scott, who has been working with glass for over 10
years, is also producing beautiful abstract designs of his own.
